Provider description
With 14 years of experience as a kindergarten teacher and a master’s in early childhood education, I provide evidence-based reading instruction tailored to each child's unique needs. I’m a homeschooling mom who has a seven-year-old with Down syndrome that I taught to read and he is currently on grade level. I specialize in teaching young children to read through two different paths: • The Phonics Path: I love using phonemic awareness and phonics with young children to build a solid reading foundation. I use slideshows with lots of fun and engaging drawings and photographs. I create tailored lessons in reading, writing, and math for young learners age 3 year-olds to 2nd grade. In-between the core learning time I like to sprinkle in fun animal or space facts if your child loves facts like mine. • The Fast Flash Path: Specifically designed for students with Down syndrome, this path utilizes heavy sensory input, fast flash reading, vocabulary expansion, and specialized writing support to build confidence and communication skills. We also incorporate math skills into our lessons. It is recommended that in-between lessons, parents practice the fast flash and vocabulary cards.
