Hi! I am an in-home private tutor with 12 years of experience in the classroom as well as 13 years of experience as a professional nanny. I have taught all subject areas in the elementary education field and have a passion for math and science. I have experience teaching 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades and I am certified in the state of Florida to teach K-6. I have taught as a full-time instructional teacher in a public school, Title I math, reading, and science intervention in a public school, and Title I math and reading intervention in a private school. My focus with private tutoring will be K-5. I also have a degree in Social Work, which helps me navigate the emotional, social and environmental aspects that come into play as students are learning. My experiences have taught me that my students are more likely to engage in a lesson when it is catered to various learning styles. When a student's whole body, not just their brain, is engaged in a lesson, they are more likely to remember it. I am constantly reflecting and asking myself how I can make each lesson come alive for my students so that they will want to be curious, lifelong learners.
