Founded in New York City, Story Time Chess is an award-winning enrichment program that teaches kids ages 3-7 how to play chess through silly stories, colorful characters and hands-on games. Beyond learning the game itself, kids build focus, critical thinking skills and sportsmanship - all while having fun! HOW IT WORKS: We guide young children through piece mechanics, strategies and tactics. Each lesson follows our proven 'chess-for-kids" method: - Storytelling: We start with a story featuring funny characters and theatrical voices to keep the kids engaged. - Active movement: We get the kids on their feet and practice moving like the characters in the story we just heard. - Gameplay: We bring the story to the chessboard! If we've heard a story about King Chomper's pizza flying out the castle window, we practice moving him one step at a time across the chessboard and help him pick up all his pizza slices.
