"Explorative Learning with Raven" (locally known as “Raven”) is a tutoring business provided by Public Health college graduate and former bioanalytical and organic chemist, Raven Laravea. Raven focuses on providing educational services centered around curiosity and emphasizes self-directed learning, mixed-age and mixed-setting environments, and hands-on educational materials. Students are encouraged to explore and research their own interests and questions that are discussed and investigated further under the guidance of the instructor. This learning style, in tandem with goal-oriented lesson plans and developing real-world problem-solving skills, is designed to foster independence, creativity, and a love of learning. Examples of subjects covered included but are not limited to: • Mathematics (Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Measurements, Problem-solving Strategies, Order of Operations, Graphing and Data Representation) • Science (Biology, Microbiology, Anatomy/Physiology, Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy, Earth Science , Geography, Environmental Science, Ecology, Zoology) • English Language Arts (Reading Fluency, Strategies and Comprehension, Vocabulary Development, Spelling, Handwriting, Grammar, Literature, Creative Writing) • History • Health Education • Research and Critical Thinking Skills • Dance and Physical Education • Art and Design • Music Theory and Composition • Public Speaking • Problem-solving Skills • Life Skills (Time Management, Organization, etc.)
