Engineering & Media Innovation Lab STEM Instructional Program for Homeschool Students Program Overview The Engineering & Media Innovation Lab provides structured, curriculum-based STEM instruction for homeschool students using LEGO-based robotics and applied engineering systems. Instruction focuses on developing competencies in: Mechanical engineering principles Coding and computer science foundations Computational thinking Systems design and sensor integration Structured problem-solving Technical communication and documentation All instruction is delivered in small groups and differentiated by ability to support progressive academic development. Instructional Structure Each instructional cycle follows a structured format: Engineering problem introduction Design and mechanical construction Programming and algorithm implementation Testing, debugging, and optimization Reflection and documentation of learning outcomes Students engage in scaffolded lessons designed to build cumulative technical skill proficiency. Student learning is documented through a structured digital portfolio system. Each portfolio includes: Photo and video evidence of completed engineering builds Written descriptions of engineering challenges and solutions Coding progression records Instructor observations and skill evaluations Periodic learning summaries Technology-assisted tools are used to organize and summarize student progress, providing measurable evidence
