Product description
This kindergarten curriculum takes math outdoors where it is naturally hands-on and involves touching, seeing, hearing, smelling, and even tasting. It engages all of the senses and includes plenty of movement. Kindergarten math is meant to be active and fun! Watch how the natural environment makes concepts more concrete and increases children’s attention spans.
You’ll find all the units and skills typically covered in kindergarten math, plus practice activities. Build a solid foundation in numeracy skills through activities such as collecting and counting natural materials, mud pie activities, and using flowers in ten frames.
Math Units covered: counting and cardinality, place value, patterns and symmetry, beginning addition and subtraction, measurement and data, and geometry.
Each unit also has a list of my favorite math books and games that are great played outside in warm weather and inside in extreme weather or on dark winter evenings.
Includes a full year (38 weeks) of plans, as well as a blank planning sheet to help you tailor Wild Math to the needs of your child/ren or students. Use as a standalone math program or as a supplement to add more hands-on and engaging activities to a more traditional program.
Suggested materials and gear for learning outside are included, as well as tips for families in urban areas.
Learn more and see samples on our website discoverwildlearning.com.
