<p><b>World Geography</b></p> <p>In World Geography, students examine people, places, and environments on the local, regional, national, and international scales through the lens of God?s truth. God stands outside of time and sees all things from an eternal perspective. While He created all things good, human sin introduced an emptiness that is reflected in all cultures. Students examine God?s people, places, and environments involved in past and present events from the spatial and ecological perspectives of geography.</p> <p>Much of the course focuses on the physical processes that shape the physical environment God created; the characteristics of major landforms, climates, and ecosystems and their interrelationships; the political, economic, and social processes that shape cultural patterns of regions; types and patterns of settlement; and the distribution and movement of world population. Students analyze how location affects activity in economic systems throughout the world. They identify the processes that influence political divisions of the planet and analyze the different points of view that affect the development of public policies. Students compare how components of culture shape the characteristics of regions, and analyze the impact of technology and human modifications on the environment. Students examine these topics, compare them with biblical truths, and use problem-solving and decision-making skills to ask and answer geographic and biblical questions.</p> <p><i>This course is considered a full-year course. Recommended grade level: 9th-10th-11th-12th grade.</i></p>
