Product description

The Dimensions Math KA Textbook introduces kindergartners to mathematics through Singapore Math's concrete-pictorial-abstract sequence, where students first manipulate physical objects, then work with visual representations, and finally advance to abstract mathematical thinking. This American adaptation was designed specifically to be more accessible to U.S. educators while maintaining the rigor of Singapore-style instruction. Each chapter opens with scenarios that stimulate curiosity about new mathematical concepts, with lessons progressing through matching, sorting, and classifying; numbers to 5 and extending to 10; shapes and solid figures; comparing measurements (height, length, weight, and capacity); and comparing numbers within 10.

The 152-page, full-color textbook emphasizes problem-solving, discussion, mental math, and challenging word problems throughout its lessons. A pencil icon marks the end of each lesson, directing students to corresponding practice in the companion workbook. Chapter reviews provide ongoing reinforcement as concepts build upon each other. The program includes built-in differentiation, allowing you to adjust practice amounts for individual learners without requiring extensive supplemental materials.

The textbook functions as part of a three-component system and cannot be used independently. Instruction begins with the Teacher's Guide or Home Instructor's Guide, which introduces and expands concepts before students encounter them in the textbook. The workbook then provides essential written practice. You'll also need manipulatives (counting objects, sorting materials) and access to printable resources available from the publisher's website. This "A" level covers the first semester; you'll need the "B" level material to complete the kindergarten year.
