Through hands-on projects paired with deeper historical context, students explore how African societies, Indigenous nations, and European explorers interacted and influenced one another.</p><p> The first six boxes of this course guide students from early cultural foundations through the establishment of the first European colonies in North America. Students investigate systems of trade, power, belief, and survival while considering how everyday life and major historical forces shaped the early American experience.</p><p> Designed for young adult learners, this semester emphasizes critical thinking, historical perspective, and meaningful engagement with primary ideas and cultural traditions. Students are encouraged to move beyond memorization and consider cause, consequence, and connection across time.</p><h3>Boxes Included in This Semester</h3><ul> <li> <strong>Foundations of American History</strong> – Mali, Powhatan, and Early Explorers </li> <li> <strong>Early Colonies</strong> – St. Augustine, Jamestown, and Plymouth </li></ul><p> Our First Semester American History Curriculum includes six individual boxes, each with its own lesson plan, curated reading list, and educator resources designed to support independent learning and discussion.
