<p><b>Elementary Science Grade 1</b></p> <p>The Elementary Science Grade 1 course expands on students? foundation in scientific concepts by exploring a variety of earth, life, and physical science topics?including forces and motion, space, the earth, gravity, plants, water, basic needs, as well as living and nonliving things. Throughout the course, students engage in science and engineering practices by asking questions, defining problems, developing and using models, planning and conducting investigations, analyzing and interpreting data, using mathematics and informational technology, constructing explanations, designing solutions, engaging in scientific arguments using evidence, and communicating results. Students explore scientific ideas and participate in scientific study, all through a biblical lens. Students learn to view creation from a biblical perspective, as they come to recognize that God has power over all creation. They learn to recognize God as the source of provision and security?and discover that to live well, we must follow God?s wisdom, which is found in His Word. A framework of active student learning supports and allows students to engage, explore, explain, elaborate, and evaluate throughout the course. This dynamic format helps students build a biblically accurate understanding of God?s Earth from hands-on experiences and discovery of new ideas.</p> <p><i>This course is considered a full-year course. Recommended grade level: 1st grade.</i></p>
