<p>Available through OnFire Academy: 1st Grade Reading - Semester 1 is a 100% online and flexibly paced course that builds foundational reading skills for first graders. Lessons cover phonemic awareness, decoding, structural analysis, vocabulary, reading and literature skills, study skills, pre-writing and composition, spelling, handwriting, listening, and oral language. Engaging texts, subgenres, worksheets, hands-on projects, and art activities encourage a love of reading. State standards are referenced in unit overviews. This version is for independent learning—no teacher grading or support is provided; parents can grade assignments, view answer keys, and give feedback. Semester 1 of 2 semesters. Accredited and mentor-guided versions are available separately.</p>
