<p>Accelerate your student’s growth in phonemic awareness and phonics skills when you use this fantastic activity based on the Science of Reading! Kids love the challenge of matching these full color picture tiles to their correct sound tiles. Each of the 44 phoneme sounds of English are represented with 5 double-sided picture cards, for a total of 220 picture tiles. </p><p>One side of each picture tile has a picture with Elkonin sound boxes below it, and the targeted sound box highlighted. The other side displays the same picture with its word written below, and the targeted letter highlighted. Students use sorting trays to sort the sounds displayed on the picture tiles with their matching sound tiles. When used independently, students can check their own sorting accuracy by comparing their picture tiles with the reverse side of each sound tile, where the matching picture tiles are shown. </p><p>Follow the enclosed instructions.</p><p>Before using, sort and file all the picture cards as directed.</p><p>Be sure to set up the child’s activity with sounds and letters you have introduced.</p><p>Because this set includes all 44 phoneme sounds, it can be used across many skill levels.</p><p>Elkonin boxes are simply a visual aid. They help build phonological awareness skills by having children segment spoken words into their individual sounds (phonemes).
