Julie McCann Credentials Bachelor of Arts - Elementary Education Minor (Behavioral Studies) Overall GPA (3.96) Certifications Florida Teacher's License (K-6) North Carolina Teacher's License Experience I was the lead instructor/Director at a math tutoring center in Wake County, North Carolina, for 15 years. I have a genuine passion for tailoring instruction to meet learners' individual needs, while considering feedback from parents, and ensuring students achieve state standards. I do not teach students to memorize procedures; I teach them to truly understand the mathematical concepts so that if they forget the procedures or encounter a problem they have not seen before on a test, they still have the tools to solve it correctly. I want to share my love of math with your child. I also have experience teaching students to read using the science of reading (phonics-based instruction). I enjoy watching children make connections and begin reading. I use phonics games and phonics readers to help instill a love of reading in my students. As a Disney lover and an avid reader, I know a whole new world is opened when children learn how to read. I am available for math, science, and reading FAST test prep (K-7th). Along with private tutoring, I completed numerous hours of classroom teaching to fulfill my degree requirements. I have classroom experience in Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 5th grades. I have experience working with children with Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and dyscalculia.
