I am Orton-Gillingham (OG) Certified and provide instructional and coaching services, on a one-to-one basis, to persons identified as having dyslexia or struggling with reading, spelling, writing, or handwriting, or any combination of these skills. I tutor students in basic math, as appropriate. To meet each student’s needs, the methods I use are individualized, direct, multisensory, systematic, explicit, evidence-based. I customize each lesson to build on the student's strengths and address areas needing improvement. I serve all ages and schooling levels, through adult. Parents frequently ask me to coach them regarding difficult issues for their students, including relations with the school, 504 Plans and IEPs, and testing. I communicate with school staff and attend school meetings, as requested by my clients. ​ My evidence-based approach is based on the Science of Reading (SOR) and Orton-Gillingham. I select materials based on my assessment of the student. These may include the Barton Reading and Spelling System©, Wilson Reading©, Foundation in Sounds©, Handwriting Without Tears©, or others. I conduct periodic monitoring of students' progress and report all findings to parents or guardians. Most important, I easily develop comfortable relationships with my students. They quickly discover that they can succeed while working with me and find themselves less anxious and more confident. Parents, grandparents, other family members, and teachers consistently thank me.
