Wilderness First Aid and survival This course offers a comprehensive exploration of essential skills for outdoor safety, self-reliance, and understanding Florida's unique natural environment. Students will gain hands-on experience in wilderness first aid, emergency response techniques, and survival strategies, while also studying the distinctive ecosystems and wildlife of Florida. Key topics include: Wilderness First Aid: Basic emergency medical response in remote environments, including wound care, splinting, CPR, managing shock, and handling common outdoor injuries. Survival Skills: Techniques for navigating and surviving in the wild, including shelter building, fire-making, water purification, and food sourcing. Florida Ecology: An in-depth look at Florida’s diverse ecosystems, from coastal wetlands to pine forests, and an understanding of local flora and fauna. Topics will include plant identification, animal tracks, and environmental conservation practices. Safety and Preparedness: How to assess risk, plan for trips, and prepare emergency kits for various outdoor scenarios in Florida's unique environments.
